Job Description
Clamp Truck Operator
Job Summary:
The Clamp Truck Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of clamp trucks and other powered industrial vehicles to move, stage, load, and unload paper rolls, finished goods, and materials throughout the facility. This role plays a critical part in supporting production, shipping, and receiving operations while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Safely operate clamp trucks to transport paper rolls, pallets, and finished materials within the facility
- Load and unload materials from trucks, trailers, storage racks, and production areas
- Accurately stage materials to support production schedules and shipping requirements
- Inspect loads for damage and ensure materials are handled in a manner that prevents product loss
- Perform daily pre-operation equipment inspections and maintenance and report mechanical issues promptly
- Follow all safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and company policies related to powered industrial equipment
- Maintain accurate material movement documentation and inventory records as required
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, production teams, and shipping/receiving personnel
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe operations
- Assist with other warehouse or material handling tasks as needed
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous experience operating forklifts in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
- Ability to become certified on powered industrial equipment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, safety guidelines, and shipping documentation
- Basic math and record-keeping skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
Desired Skills and Abilities:
- Previous experience operating clamp trucks in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and twist for extended periods
- Ability to operate powered equipment for long durations
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Visual and spatial awareness required for safe equipment operation
- Manufacturing/warehouse environment with exposure to moving equipment, noise, and varying temperatures
- Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
