Job Summary:
To assist in the fabrication and distribution of books and other related products. Transfer of material on and off a stitcher/binder/collator machine.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Take stacks of book blocks off a pallet and feed into a trimmer.
- Transfer completed bundles of product off machine conveyor, load into a carton, and send through a carton machine or stack on a pallet.
- Transfer, place, lift and/or stack various pallets, trays, or Gaylords as needed.
- Push, pull, and move bundle clamp to placed logged product onto hopper loader/stream feeders.
- Use a hand jack or motorized Raymond or Big Joe lift.
- Straighten and align paper signatures.
- Correctly load feeder pockets with signatures.
- Inspect and stack final product.
- Consumption/assignment of all load flags at end of job,
- Routing, staging, and documenting of product moved from machine.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to communicate with other members of the staff.
- Ability to use a hand jack or motorized Raymond or Big Joe lift.
- Ability to use a computer, scissors, and tape gun.
- Ability to understand standard operating procedures of the department and follow them consistently.
- Ability to straighten & align paper signatures.
- Ability to correctly load feeder pockets with signatures.
- Ability to inspect & stack final product.
- Able to work overtime on a needed basis.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to utilize down time effectively by separating rejected signatures or general cleaning tasks in work area ( i.e., sweeping).
- Ability to insert magazines into envelopes and other tasks per customer requests (handwork).
