Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy-duty diesel engines, including Caterpillar and other industrial brands, utilizing schematics and automotive diagnostics tools.
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on vehicle systems such as air brakes, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension, shocks & struts, HVAC systems, and electrical components.
- Fabricate parts or modify existing components using power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and hand tools to meet specific repair needs.
- Service and repair farm machinery, excavators, cranes, forklifts, power tools, and other heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Inspect vehicles for safety compliance through alignment checks, tire service, brake repair, wheel balancing, and suspension assessments.
- Use heavy lifting techniques safely when handling large parts or equipment; operate heavy machinery such as excavators or forklifts as needed.
- Read and interpret schematics to troubleshoot complex mechanical or electrical issues efficiently while maintaining detailed service records.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a mechanic in a dealership or heavy-duty vehicle environment with strong knowledge of diesel engine repair.
- Familiarity with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; experience with industrial equipment such as cranes or excavators is a plus.
- Skilled in automotive diagnostics software and electrical troubleshooting methods.
- Ability to perform repairs on transmissions, air brake systems, HVAC units, shocks & struts, and other vehicle components with precision.
- Hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation including forklifts or similar machinery; capable of performing heavy lifting safely.
- Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, schematics reading, and assembly techniques.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
- Valid certifications in automotive repair or service technician training preferred; ASE certification is advantageous.
