Summary of Essential Job Functions
| - Plan, direct and monitor all production activities within the Refinery Lysine process to maximize the use of the organization’s resources and meet established production specifications and schedules; volume, cost wastage targets; and quality standards
- Develop and implement manufacturing schedules and procedures and allocate labor and capital resources to maximize productivity
- Analyze production, maintenance, and malfunction records to identify problems and recommend solutions that will improve performance
- Liaise with functional or operational area managers to understand their current and future product needs and develop plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into existing manufacturing activities
- Plan, prioritize, and manage production line maintenance or downtimes to minimize disruptions to manufacturing schedules
- Lead, direct, evaluate and develop a team who are responsible for various production activities
- Responsible for overall monitoring of the refinery lysine process
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing issues and resolving problems
- Observing production data and trends to identify and eliminate production inefficiencies and prevent production problems before they occur;
- Manage all departmental personnel, including hiring, firing, discipline, performance evaluations, timecards, and coaching
- Responsible for creating, implementing and ensure compliance with departmental training
- Responsible for ensuring department compliance with company, local, state and federal quality and safety policies, procedures and regulations;
- Participates in daily, monthly and year-end closing, which may require additional hours worked
- Ensure all departmental SOP’s, data entry forms are accurate and current;
- Communicate with other departments to ensure efficient production process;
- Drive process improvement and improve efficiency while lowering production costs;
- Facilitate communication between management and operational staff.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities | - Extensive knowledge and skills in manufacturing process management, refinery manufacturing knowledge, production scheduling/planning, personnel management, computer-aided manufacturing systems, automation, manufacturing regulatory and safety
- Computer skills required; Computer-aided manufacturing systems, general computer systems, I.e. Microsoft Excel, Word, SAP, MES;
- Critical thinking, multi-tasking and troubleshooting skills;
- Knowledge of how to operate an automated process system;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Analytical ability;
- Data Analysis skills;

Physical Demands & Work Environment | - Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, however business needs may require additional hours worked.
- This position works primarily in an office environment, but will regularly be exposed to a manufacturing environment, which includes exposures to moving parts, high noise levels, vibrations, varying atmospheric conditions, hot and cold temperatures, chemicals, high pressure steam and dust
- Ability to remain in a stationary position up to 80% of shift;
- Ability to walk and ascend/descend stairs extended distances regularly
- Some travel is expected for this position
- This position supervises the work of others

- Ability to wear full-face respirator and protective equipment as needed. This includes minimal facial hair in order to ensure proper fit in of respirator in accordance with OSHA regulations. Must complete annual medical monitoring program, including pulmonary function testing.

OR - Bachelor’s Degree & 5 years of directly related work experience
OR - Associate’s Degree & 8 years of directly related work experience
OR - High School Diploma/GED & 10 years of directly related experience
