Job Summary
Responsible for performing a leading role in the efficient and effective operation of utility equipment, record keeping, data analysis, and invoice processing.
Essential Job Functions
- Provides leadership and guidance to Operators to ensure efficient and effective operations
- Responsible for performing a leading role in the efficient and effective operation of utility equipment, which includes but isn’t limited to: Compressor, Chiller, Cooling Tower, Water treatment, Steam Accumulator, and Gas regulator
- Collect water samples and test pH, hardness and conductivity
- Coordinate and calculates energy consumption
- Coordinate utility projects, as necessary
- Performs utility equipment record keeping and data analysis
- Collect the daily energy usage from all departments and predict how much energy will be needed based on changes in energy use
- Record Keeping and analysis of data related to utility equipment and utility functions (temperature, pressure, flow, etc…)
- Performs utility equipment record keeping and data analysis
- Performs record keeping and analysis of all measurable units, such as temperature, pressure, Flow, etc.
- Monitor and analyze of utility performance data
- Performs analysis and calculations of consumed utility amount per product produced
- Regularly submits utility invoices for payment
- Track, maintain, and record spare parts consumption as needed
- Create or revise Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) as necessary
- Communicate all daily tasks and equipment, as necessary
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair complex equipment issues
- Responsible for monitoring and maintaining major equipment maintenance: Comp, Chiller, CT, Water treatment, Steam Actuator, and Gas regulator, with the support of training equipment technicians from the manufacturer or maintenance personnel
- Submit work requests when equipment needs repair
- Inspect completed maintenance to ensure work meets safety and quality standards
- Submit improvements of performance reducing energy consumption;
- Small spare parts inspection .i.e., filters, oil coolant;
- Chemical maintenance (HCL, NAOH, Cooling Tower Chemical);
- Works open shifts for Operator absences, as required
- Adhere to all regulations required by PSM, MOC, OSHA, Food Safety, CJ Bio America, and State of Iowa
- Follow safety procedures at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Strong knowledge and experience required operating and maintaining utility equipment in a manufacturing environment, i.e., compressor, chiller, cooling tower, water treatment, steam accumulator and gas regulator

Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, unless business needs require additional hours worked;
- This position will require extended work hours during monthly and annual closings
- This position may be required to work open shifts for Operator absences, which includes 12-hour shifts on days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
- This position works in a manufacturing environment, which includes exposures to moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, vibrations, varying atmospheric conditions and temperatures, hazardous chemicals, high pressure steam, dust
- This position regularly requires the ability to remain in a stationary position up to 30% of shift, standing, walking extended distances, ascending/descending stairs and ladders, close/distance vision.
- This position does not supervise the work of others
- Travel is not expected for this position
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds;
- Must be able to wear full-face respirator and protective equipment for testing. This includes minimal facial hair in order to ensure proper fit in of respirator in accordance with OSHA regulations. Must complete annual medical monitoring program, including pulmonary function testing.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree
OR
- Associate’s degree & 2 years of directly related experience
OR
- High school diploma / GED & 4 years of directly related experience
- Utilities operation and maintenance experience required
