Accountant I (CIV)

Position: Accountant

Location: Civitas Senior Living, Corporate Office

Role Overview: The Accountant is a key member of our accounting team dedicated to managing financial transactions, preparing detailed financial reports, and upholding compliance with regulatory standards. This role is critical in analyzing financial data to maintain precise records and support strategic financial decisions. The accountant will manage the accounting operations for multiple entities, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of all financial accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate accounting entries and ensure each is backed by comprehensive documentation.
• Conduct detailed analyses and provide clear explanations of transactions.
• Manage the entry of monthly payables and maintain accurate accruals.
• Perform reconciliations for banking, general ledgers, and vendor statements.
• Track and report on prepaid costs and manage amortization schedules.
• Create and maintain fixed asset ledgers.
• Prepare required documentation for internal and external audits.
• Assist in the processing of vendor invoices and payments.
• Handle daily bookkeeping for multiple entities.
• Participate actively in month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial statements to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and uphold accounting standards.
  
  
  

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CMA or CPA certification is a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting experience.
• In-depth understanding of accounting procedures and principles, including GAAP.
• Strong analytical skills and adept problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
• Experience with ERP systems or other financial management software.
• Excellent attention to detail.
