The Opportunity
We Are Seeking a Program-minded Clinical Supervisor Who Will
- Supervise and mentor direct service providers across:
- Mental Health Outpatient Services
- Substance Use Outpatient Services
- Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP)
- Lead program development and expansion efforts
- Strengthen referral relationships and community partnerships
- Ensure clinical excellence and compliance with Virginia DBHDS and ASAM standards
- Maintain a small clinical caseload during the first 6 months while building infrastructure, systems, and staff competency
Compensation
Enhanced Salary Range:
- Fully Licensed (LMHP): $73,106 - $93,060
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Supervision
- Provide structured clinical supervision to outpatient and substance use staff
- Ensure implementation of individualized treatment plans and measurable outcomes
- Monitor documentation quality, medical necessity, and compliance standards
- Ensure ASAM criteria are properly applied in assessments, level-of-care determinations, and treatment planning
- Support staff development through coaching, performance feedback, and curriculum oversight
- Build and strengthen MH Outpatient and SA/IOP programming
- Assist in developing workflows, policies, and clinical systems
- Identify service gaps and growth opportunities
- Prepare program infrastructure for scalability and future Director-level oversight
- Build and foster relationships with:
- Referral sources
- Hospitals
- Community agencies
- Probation and court systems
- Collateral providers
- Represent Civitas Health Services professionally in the community
- Help grow census through ethical and strategic engagement
- Conduct intakes, ASAM assessments/biopsychosocial assessments, and reassessments
- Maintain accurate DSM-5 diagnoses and documentation
- Deliver individual, group, and family therapy
- Provide crisis intervention as needed
- Maintain a small caseload (first 6 months) while program infrastructure is built
- Review documentation (assessments, ISPs, quarterly reviews, progress notes)
- Ensure authorization submissions meet payor requirements
- Collaborate with executive leadership on program strategy
- Maintain Joint Commission and DBHDS readiness standards
- Master's degree in a Human Services or Behavioral Health field
- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in outpatient and/or substance use treatment
- Fully Licensed in Virginia with appropriate scope of practice to independently assess, diagnose, and treat mental health and/or substance use disorders, including:
- LPC, LCSW, or LMFT (LMHP) with scope of practice to provide substance use disorder treatment services
- LSATP
- Strong working knowledge of ASAM criteria
- Experience supervising or mentoring clinicians preferred
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Experience developing or expanding IOP services
- EMDR training
- Experience building and maintaining referral networks
