Weekend RN SupervisorSkilled Nursing Facility – ConnecticutPosition SummaryThe Weekend RN Supervisor provides clinical leadership and oversight for nursing operations during weekend shifts in our skilled nursing facility. This role ensures high-quality, resident-centered care, supervises nursing staff, maintains regulatory compliance with Connecticut Department of Public Health (CT DPH) and federal CMS standards, and supports smooth facility functioning when administrative leadership may be limited. The position focuses on direct supervision, emergency response, and quality care delivery on Saturdays, Sundays, and/or holidays.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise and coordinate licensed and unlicensed nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, CNAs) during assigned weekend shifts, including assigning duties, monitoring performance, and providing guidance to ensure optimal resident care.Conduct regular nursing rounds on all units to assess resident conditions, monitor care delivery, verify medication administration, treatments, and documentation accuracy.Oversee medication distribution, treatments, wound care, and other clinical procedures; intervene as needed for complex resident needs or emergencies.Respond to changes in resident conditions, emergencies, falls, incidents, or acute issues; initiate appropriate interventions, notify physicians/families, and document thoroughly.Ensure compliance with federal (CMS), state (CT DPH), and facility policies, including infection control, resident rights, safety protocols, and documentation standards.Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (e.g., therapy, dietary, social services) available on weekends to address resident needs and promote coordinated care.Provide education, mentoring, and support to staff; address performance issues and promote a positive, team-oriented environment.Monitor facility operations for safety, cleanliness, and readiness; report significant issues to the Director of Nursing or Administrator.Participate in incident reporting, quality assurance activities, and preparation for potential surveys or audits.QualificationsCurrent, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Connecticut (required).Minimum 2–3 years of clinical experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or geriatric settings; supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred.Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, CT DPH standards, infection prevention, and long-term care best practices.Excellent clinical assessment, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently during weekend shifts with sound judgment in high-acuity situations.Proficiency in electronic health records and Microsoft Office.BLS certification required; additional certifications (e.g., IV, wound care) a plus.
