Position Summary

This position is responsible for the health and safety of all clients. This position assesses and prescribes appropriate medications as well as assess medical and psychiatric issues/ concerns and makes appropriate referrals. This position consults with the treatment team on primary diagnosis and co-occurring issues.

 

Relationships and Contacts

 

Within the organization: Establish and maintain productive working relationships with peers and accounting team members throughout STR Behavioral Health and affiliated facilities.

 

Outside the organization: Establish and maintain productive working relationships with third party vendors, as necessary.

Position Responsibilities

  1. Maintaining a safe and secure environment
  2. Help Clients by providing information, services, and assistance
  3. Prescribe Detoxification medication regimens that are safe, appropriate, and effective for clients with substance use disorder
  4. Routine checkups and Medication checks for clients in services
  5. Conducting follow up and evaluation of client physical and psychiatric conditions.
  6. Prescribe medications as necessary and check on the efficacy of medication regimen
  7. Document clinical, medical, and psychiatric treatments and recommendations
  8. Pre-screen and approve potential clients by reviewing psych and medical records for admission
  9. Order Lab work and UAs as needed
  10. Complete Psychiatric Evaluations for every admitting client
  11. Complete physical for every admitting client
  12. Make referrals to specialist as needed
  13. Order and administer Vivitrol as needed
  14. Consult with the treatment team
  15. Complete progress notes as needed
  16. Support Nursing staff.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

Certified in the state of Pennsylvania as a CRNP or Physician’s Assistant. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Detoxification and/or Residential Setting, preferably in substance abuse or mental health. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A willingness to work with a clinical team to make recommendations and implement strategies that will benefit clients. Willingness to take calls during afterhours days and times.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to communicate with peers, clients, families’ other facilities and/or vendors.
  • Tolerant to various noise levels: noise level in the work environment varies – may be very quiet to moderate.
  • Performs duties that require the employee to sit or remain stationary for extended periods of time.
  • Job performance will require the ability to move throughout the building and may require walking around facility grounds.
  • While performing duties may be required to sit stationary for long periods of time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to talk or hear, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste, or smell.
  • Ability to move up to 25 pounds.

 

Additional Requirements

 

  • Position requires incumbent to have a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance and acceptable driving record.
  • Clearance of TB test, and any other mandatory state/federal requirements.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
