Job Overview
The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), under new management, is a national organization dedicated to training and educating U.S. citizens in responsible uses of firearms through gun safety training, marksmanship training and competitions. The CMP is a federally chartered 501(c)(3) corporation that places its highest priority on serving youth through gun safety and marksmanship activities that encourage personal growth and build life skills. We are currently seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician.
Position Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician
Position Location: CMP South, Talladega Marksmanship Park
FLSA: Hourly Non-Exempt
Reports To: Clubhouse Operations & Facilities Manager
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the day-to-day cleaning, upkeep, and general maintenance of the clubhouse and outlying facilities at the Talladega Marksmanship Park.
This position ensures that all buildings, restrooms, ranges, and common areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and operational condition for guests, staff, and event participants.
This role requires a dependable, self-motivated individual with strong attention to detail, a proactive work ethic, and the ability to identify maintenance needs before they become larger operational issues. The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in supporting daily operations, enhancing the guest experience, and maintaining the professional appearance and functionality of the park.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Cleaning & Sanitation
- Perform routine cleaning of the clubhouse, restrooms, classrooms, meeting rooms, and common areas.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, floors, and fixtures.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors in all assigned buildings and facilities.
- Empty trash and recycling containers throughout the facility and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
- Restock restroom and facility supplies, including paper products, soap, and cleaning materials.
- Clean windows, doors, counters, and high-touch surfaces regularly to maintain a professional appearance.
- Maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas immediately surrounding buildings, including entryways, sidewalks, and breezeways.
Grounds & Outlying Facility Support
- Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of outlying facilities, including range buildings, pavilions, and training areas.
- Pick up debris and maintain cleanliness of parking lots, walkways, and exterior spaces.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, and equipment for events, matches, and classes.
- Monitor facility conditions and report any safety hazards, damage, or maintenance issues promptly.
- Support basic groundskeeping tasks such as blowing leaves, pressure washing surfaces, and maintaining outdoor trash receptacles.
Maintenance & Operational Support
- Perform minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, changing air filters, tightening fixtures, and basic repairs.
- Assist with preventive maintenance activities to ensure facilities remain operational and safe.
- Operate cleaning and maintenance equipment such as floor scrubbers, pressure washers, vacuums, and blowers.
- Maintain cleaning equipment in good working condition and report equipment malfunctions.
- Follow established cleaning schedules and maintenance checklists to ensure consistent facility standards.
- Assist staff with facility readiness for daily operations and special events.
- Adhere to all safety procedures, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Safety & Team Support
- Maintain a safe working environment by identifying and addressing potential hazards.
- Follow all CMP and park safety policies and procedures.
- Respond promptly to urgent cleaning or maintenance needs during operating hours.
- Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Represent the organization in a professional and courteous manner when interacting with guests and staff.
Education & Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, facilities maintenance, or general labor preferred.
- Experience operating cleaning equipment or performing basic maintenance tasks is a plus.
Qualifications & Skills

- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning procedures, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to identify maintenance issues and communicate them clearly to supervisors.
- Ability to lift 1–50 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 75 lbs. with assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and team-oriented mindset.
Work Schedule
This position follows the business hours of the Talladega Marksmanship Park, including weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
