The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is a national 501(c)(3) organization focused on promoting firearm and airgun safety, marksmanship training, and competitions. As a federally chartered program, CMP prioritizes youth development through activities that encourage responsible firearm use, personal growth, and the development of life skills. CMP is dedicated to fostering learning and safety within communities while supporting the educational and recreational benefits of marksmanship.
CMP is seeking a strategic and mission-driven leader to serve as our Chief Competitions Officer (CCO), a senior executive role dedicated to the leadership, execution, and growth of our national competitive programs. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and located on-site in Camp Perry, Ohio, this position sits at the executive level and provides direct oversight to our High power, Pistol, Air gun and Smallbore managers.
The CCO is responsible for the holistic management of the National Matches, Gary Anderson Competition Center events and other Civilian Marksmanship Program events, while ensuring the operational excellence of the Talladega Marksmanship Park and the Judy Legerski Competition Center in Alabama. This role involves managing complex end-to-end logistics for matches and championship series, coordinating with athletes and organizing committees, and enforcing rules and managing CMP established rule books to maintain the highest standards of fair competition.
The ideal candidate is a proactive project management expert with a strong background in the shooting sports as a competitor, organizer, or preferably both. We are looking for a tech-savvy communicator who can drive participant retention, resolve community conflicts, and create clear and innovative pathways for competitors to advance from grassroots to national levels. A degree in Sports Management, Event Management, or equivalent professional experience is required.
