Job Overview
The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), under new management, is a national organization dedicated to training and educating U.S. citizens in responsible uses of firearms through gun safety training, marksmanship training and competitions. The CMP is a federally chartered 501(c)(3) corporation that places its highest priority on serving youth through gun safety and marksmanship activities that encourage personal growth and build life skills. We are currently seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the finance function.

Position Summary:

Performs inspection and repair of rifles .30 caliber and lower and related parts, subassemblies, components and accessories.

Position Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)

The responsibilities of the position include:

Performs inventory and serial number verification.

· Disassembles rifles and checks parts for obvious wear and defects and replaces worn/broken parts and reassembles rifles.

· Assembles rifles from parts.

· Gauges and makes operational checks and adjustments.

· Grades rifles into distinct categories.

· Provides instruction and inspection services at shooting events as required.

· Manages armorer counter at CMP retail store when scheduled.

· Receives and resolves customer complaints and questions of a technical nature.

Relationships:

Reports to Armory Supervisor: Supervisor provides general instructions on work to be accomplished. Work is reviewed on the basis of meeting assigned objectives.

Level & Purpose of Contacts: Contacts are usually with other CMP employees to share information or provide advice. Frequent contact with customers required to answer technical questions and customer concerns. Represents CMP at the store locations, games venues, etc.

Supervisory Responsibility:Position requires incumbent to provide basic firearms training for newly hired personnel.

Guidelines Available to Employee: Specific, detailed guidelines covering some aspects of the work are provided. They include written scope of work, technical manuals, and other reference material. Few guidelines are available for training and show coordination duties.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:Frequently lifts rifles and other items weighing 9-15 pounds. Work requires walking, bending, and long periods of standing on concrete floor or other hard surfaces. Works in shop that is well lighted, heated, and ventilated. Exposed to oil, grease, and solvents when cleaning and lubricating weapons. Frequently exposed to the possibility of minor cuts and bruises from tools or sharp edges of metal. Subject to noise when test firing weapons. Safety shoes required.

Complexity Level: Medium. Work includes a variety of detailed tasks that are clear-cut, directly related, and concerned with the repair of rifles. At this level, armorer must determine cause of improper functioning of rifles during simulated or observed test –firing and make appropriate repairs on site.

Scope & Effect:Medium. The work involves the performance of a variety of different tasks. The work affects the timeliness and accuracy of further processes in meeting customer requirements and the degree of customer satisfaction. Communications with customers affect customer relations and reputation of CMP.

Qualifications:

Education / Experience:High School diploma or equivalency.

Skills / Training:A thorough understanding of firearms fundamentals is required. A general understanding of mechanical systems and trade practices is required. Skill in the proper use of gauges to check for proper assembly and operating tolerances such as correct amount of headspace, wear, and timing. Ability to use hand-tools such as screwdrivers, punches, hammers, files. Ability to communicate orally and in writing with customers, both in person and on the telephone.

Reasoning Ability:Ability to determine correct gauge and tool to use to perform assigned function. Ability to distinguish among different markings on rifles and parts. Ability to satisfy customers concerns.
