Job Overview
The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), under new management, is a national organization dedicated to training and educating U.S. citizens in responsible uses of firearms through gun safety training, marksmanship training and competitions. The CMP is a federally chartered 501(c)(3) corporation that places its highest priority on serving youth through gun safety and marksmanship activities that encourage personal growth and build life skills. We are currently seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the finance function.
Position Summary:
The Accountant is a key member of the finance team responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role engages in daily accounting activities: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank reconciliations, and month end close processes.
The Accountant must demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate. This role requires ownership of duties and follows through for resolutions.
Position Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the position include:
- Review and reconcile daily banking activity and other Accounts Receivable duties
- Process Vendor invoices and other related Accounts Payables duties
- Assist the Senior Accountant and Controller with monthly financial close procedures, including reconciliations and journal entries
- Review and analyze general ledger accounts for accuracy and make necessary adjustments
- Sales Tax responsibilities
- Expense Report maintenance and reconciliation
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned to support the finance department and organizational objectives
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience
Position Qualifications:
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance
· Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel
· Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
· Excellent communication and people skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Strong knowledge of GAAP
· Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
