Underground Utilities Foreman
Pay: $34.00 – $38.00 per hour (DOE)
Job Type: Full-Time
We are seeking an experienced Underground Utilities Foreman to lead field crews installing water, sewer, irrigation, and storm drain systems on civil construction projects. This position plays a key leadership role in coordinating crews, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring projects are completed efficiently and according to plans.
The ideal candidate has strong leadership abilities, extensive underground utilities experience, and the ability to manage crews while maintaining productivity and quality on the jobsite.
Responsibilities
Crew Leadership & Project Execution
- Lead and supervise field crews installing water, sewer, and storm drain utilities
- Coordinate daily jobsite activities, materials, and equipment
- Ensure work is completed according to project plans, specifications, and schedule
- Train and mentor crew members to improve productivity and workmanship
- Monitor jobsite progress and resolve issues that impact production or safety
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations
- Identify and correct unsafe jobsite conditions
- Report and document accidents, incidents, and near misses
- Ensure crew members use proper PPE and follow safe work practices
Equipment & Field Operations
- Operate heavy equipment when necessary (excavators, loaders, compactors, etc.)
- Oversee proper operation and basic maintenance of equipment
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, inspectors, and suppliers
Reporting & Communication
- Maintain daily reports including labor hours, equipment usage, and production logs
- Track delivery receipts and jobsite documentation
- Communicate professionally with inspectors, customers, and team members
Qualifications
- 3 years experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator
- 3 years in a Foreman or leadership role
- Experience installing underground utilities (water, sewer, and storm drain)
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and utility drawings
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
