What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grading/ Utility Estimator position at Civil Werx LLC?
General Purpose
Responsible for obtaining new clients, new business leads, and future business relationships as well as continuing to develop existing relationships with our current clients. Also, you will be responsible for all new estimates large and small for commercial and residential developments and securing contracts for projects awarded. This includes follow-up on existing bids, reaching out to clients for rotating lunches and networking events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure our existing clients feel they are being taken care of, that they have a trade partner
- Effectively network with prospective clients and existing clients to ensure the client base of the company is strong and has the work needed to achieve our yearly goals
- Effectively estimate new projects
- Build budgets for new projects and existing project modifications as needed
- Scheduling for estimates
- Follow up on estimates with clients
- Ability to budget project off limited information for prelim evaluation estimates for our clients
Peripheral Duties
- Understand our market, competition, and new emerging areas of work in town
- Keep up relations with our vendors and suppliers to ensure the best pricing and to gain insight into the changes that come to material pricing and increases
- Work hand in hand with the Project manager on current projects as needed
- Keep up on changes in codes and laws with respect to our business
- Keep track of escalation factors in regard to the materials required for our business
Desired Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a construction management or related field (preferred)
- Minimum 4 years’ experience as an estimator
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the field
- Experience with budgets, scheduling, and accounting

Licensing and Certification
- Training in Microsoft systems such as excel, word, etc.
- Training in cad-based programs for quantity takeoffs
- OSHA 30 (preferred)
- Training in accounting software/ estimating systems.
- Bachelors in construction management/engineering (preferred).
Tools and Equipment Used
- Computer, Tablet, Cell Phone
- Agtek and Planswift for quantity takeoff’s
Physical Demands
- Ability to work in a typical office environment for extended periods of time.
- Ability to walk and safely navigate various job sites with varying conditions.
Work Environment
Most of the time will be spent in the office working on quantities and estimates. Field visits are required for every project that is bid on and sometimes on current project under contract. When visiting projects that are under construction, proper PPE is required to be in your vehicle and worn on the jobsite at all times, no exceptions.
