As a Water Resource Engineer for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in our Knoxville, TN office, you’ll work collaboratively within an employee-owned firm while supporting projects of varying complexity from concept through construction. You’ll contribute to analysis, design, plan and specification development, permitting, bidding, and construction engineering for projects involving stormwater and watershed management, floodplain and NFIP services, flood mitigation, stream restoration and mitigation, dam safety, waterways development, bridge and culvert design, water resources permitting, and MS4 services. You’ll interact with clients, contractors, regulators, and local government officials, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and, as your career progresses, serve as a technical resource and mentor supporting knowledge sharing and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced engineering design for complex water resources projects;
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, including model development and simulations;
- Develop and review plans, specifications, cost estimates, calculations, reports, and permit applications;
- Perform quality assurance/quality control reviews to ensure technical accuracy and compliance;
- Provide mentoring, training, and technical oversight for staff;
- Manage water resources-related projects and tasks and pursue client management and business development opportunities..
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil, Water Resources, or Biosystems Engineering (or related field)
- Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.) in Tennessee or able to obtain a TN license
- 5 years of water resources engineering experience
- Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to engage in creative and critical thought
- Project management, time management, and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
