Job Summary
Civil Design Consultants Inc. is seeking a skilled Land Survey Crew Chief to manage a field crew in delivering high-quality surveying services. You’ll work on a wide variety of projects, including construction layout, boundary and topographic surveys, deformation monitoring, and large-scale mapping.
This is a hands-on field role that requires technical skill, attention to detail, and physical stamina.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute construction layout for commercial and municipal projects
- Perform existing conditions, utility, ALTA, boundary, and deformation surveys
- Operate Leica Robotic Total Stations, Automatic Levels, and Carlson Surveyor II
- Maintain detailed and accurate field notes
- Supervise and coordinate with instrument operators
- Communicate with project managers, site contractors, and field personnel
- Ensure job site safety and maintain all tools, vehicles, and equipment
- Travel to job sites and work outdoors in all weather and terrain conditions
Qualifications:
- 5 years of field survey experience (construction layout preferred)
- Proficient with survey equipment and terminology
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specs
- Advanced problem-solving skills for real-time field decisions
- Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License
- Physically able to carry equipment, drive stakes, work in all weather, and hike uneven terrain
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Salary : $70,000 - $100,000
