Role Description

The Veterinary Technician at CityVet Lower South End is a full-time, on-site role focused on high-quality medical and compassionate care for our patients. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting veterinarians with examinations, treatments, diagnostics, and surgical procedures, including monitoring patients before, during, and after anesthesia. The role involves performing routine animal care tasks such as administering medications, collecting samples, maintaining medical records, and ensuring a clean, safe clinical environment. The Veterinary Technician also provides clear, empathetic client education on treatment plans, preventive care, and at-home pet care instructions. Collaboration with veterinarians and support staff, adherence to clinic protocols, and contribution to a positive, inclusive workplace culture are essential aspects of this position.


Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong animal care and pet care skills, including safe handling, restraint, and compassionate patient support.
  • Candidates should possess veterinary technology skills, such as basic diagnostics, sample collection, medication administration, and record-keeping.
  • Candidates should possess client education skills, including explaining treatment plans, preventive care, and home care instructions in clear, supportive language.
  • Candidates should possess anesthesiology-related skills, such as assisting with anesthetic protocols and monitoring patients during surgical procedures, or be willing to learn under supervision.
  • Graduation from an accredited veterinary technology program and/or relevant on-the-job experience in a veterinary clinical setting preferred.
  • Certification or licensure as a Veterinary Technician (or eligibility to obtain) is highly beneficial, but not required
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment, with strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to fear-free, low-stress handling techniques and a focus on patient and client experience.
