Cityside Fiber is seeking a detail-oriented Data Specialist to join our Network Engineering and Planning department. This role is responsible for interpreting complex datasets, identifying trends, and creating visualizations to help leadership make informed strategic decisions. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills in SQL, Python, Excel, and DAX/Power BI, along with the ability to communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Success in this position requires analytical rigor, intellectual curiosity, and a collaborative approach to solving business problems in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Gather raw data from primary and secondary sources using tools such as SQL, APIs, and web scraping.
• Perform extensive data cleaning to ensure accuracy, handling missing values and inconsistencies.
• Use statistical techniques (e.g., regression, hypothesis testing) to identify patterns, trends, and correlations in large datasets.
• Design and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI.
• Present findings and data-driven recommendations to management to support KPIs and business growth.
• Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to automate data collection and improve database performance and integrity.
• Contribute to a culture of trust, integrity, and collaboration.
• Understand and uphold Cityside Fiber's core purpose and values and be passionate about what we do.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 3 years of experience developing key datasets and building visuals to represent complex data.
• Expert knowledge of database systems and data extraction techniques, including SQL.
• Strong proficiency in Excel and Power BI, including DAX.
• Scripting and automation skills in Python, R, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with data security best practices and data governance principles.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Location

Headquarters in Irvine, CA. This role can be remote, but will be expected to be in office at times.
