Senior Philanthropy Officer

Location: Midtown Manhattan (Hybrid – 3 days/week in office)

Salary: $$85,000-$95,000 discretionary annual bonus

Reports To: Senior Director, Philanthropy

About the Role:

Citymeals on Wheels is currently seeking a Senior Philanthropy Officer to add to the capacity and impact of our expanding Major Gifts efforts. The ideal candidate will ensure Citymeals builds and expands relationships with a pool of high-net worth individuals (with identified ability to contribute $10,000 or above annually), focusing on identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; and manage an assigned portfolio. The candidate will play a direct role in stewarding and soliciting philanthropic support in excess of $4.5 million annually.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cultivate, steward, and solicit an assigned portfolio of individual major donors and family foundations through frontline personal interactions: emails, meetings, notes, and phone calls.
• Work across External Affairs team on moves management and donor prospecting, cultivating a secondary discovery pool of mid-level donors to move target prospects into the Major Gifts portfolio.
• Conduct donor and prospect research using subscription search tools and the internet; compile materials in preparation for donor meetings and special events; create targeted donor profiles.
• Arrange and staff donor meetings and site visits, as appropriate.
• Work with the Senior Director, Philanthropy to develop planned giving initiatives, providing planned giving information to donors, and responding to planned giving requests.
• Responsible for creation and personalization of major donor renewal letters (and proposals for select individual donors).
• Help create periodic programmatic updates and outreach opportunities to steward and engage individual major donors and prospects.
• Work with team to execute donor receptions and engagement opportunities
• Generate timely and personalized individual major gift acknowledgements within portfolio throughout the year. Respond to inquiries from major donors and provide broad-ranging information about Citymeals' mission, programs, and impact.
• Manage and maintain accuracy of individual major donor constituent information in Raiser’s Edge database.
• Lead and support special projects and donor cultivation events.
• Contribute to the overall work of the major gifts team, managing additional projects and selected funder proposals as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required, plus a minimum 7 years of progressive fundraising experience in a major gifts environment, including frontline fundraising experience. Familiarity with New York City philanthropy a plus.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong organizational and collaboration skills and attention to fine detail.
• Excellent customer service and relationship building skills. Comfort, experience, and discretion in interacting with high-net worth individuals and family foundations.
• Ability to absorb detailed information on Citymeals' mission, programs and impact, and communicate that information effectively and engagingly to donors.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Excel and all Microsoft Office applications, including detailed mail merges. Demonstrated strong experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM.
• Energetic self-starter with experience prioritizing multiple projects within a deadline-driven environment.
• Interest in Citymeals’ mission to provide home-delivered meals to older adults.
