Overview of CityLink Culinary Instructor
The Culinary Instructor serves as a support to the CityLink Culinary Training and is responsible for development and implementation of the culinary curriculum used to prepare trainees for a career in the Food Service Industry.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
The Culinary Instructor will have the following detailed responsibilities:
- Provide trainees with the skills and knowledge to excel in the Food Service Industry
- Drive success of the program participants through direct instruction of industry soft skills and hands on culinary lab
- Work with Citylink staff to oversee and approve all enrollment decisions and dismissals or probationary actions taken with students and advise program management on appropriate corrective actions with students.
- Implement specialized, employment-focused, industry-centric curriculum.
- Identify program approved career pathways for students with Employment Support staff
- Assist Citylink staff to provide technical assistance to hiring managers regarding best practices in employing individuals with barriers to success.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in culinary, hospitality, education, or related field with teaching experience
- 8-10 years working within the Culinary Industry
- Minimum of 2 years of Culinary Industry Management experience
- Experience as a culinary instructor preferred, but not required
- Demonstrated experience in adult education, career development, program management, or other relevant experience
- Desire to work for an organization combating unemployment and creating opportunity for neighbors in need
- Demonstrated organizational skills in developing, managing, and tracking program materials, processes, and procedures
- Highly developed and timely communication and collaboration skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with learners with high barriers to educational success and employment
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Proficient at using Google web based products, databases, etc.
- Ability to administer and interpret standardized rubrics and assessments
- Knowledge of methods and techniques of job development and graduate placement; current practices in vocational education; local labor market trends and employment opportunities
- Skill and ability to effectively market and represent a program, its graduates and services to businesses
- Ability to interact effectively with staff and adult students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Ability to attend and staff occasional functions and events outside of normal business
Physical Demands:
- Comfort with physical activity is required
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Ability to perform general physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and moving your whole body, such as: climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials; Ability to bend, lean, reach and stoop without hindrance; Possess fine motor skills, stand and/or walk for long periods
