Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operates vehicles, test and inspects equipment in accordance with pre-trip and in-service vehicle inspection procedures.
- Safely boards and alights passengers and provides necessary assistance to passengers with disabilities.
- Collects appropriate fares from passengers, including issuing and accepting transfers.
- Announces streets and time points as required by the ADA and as requested.
- Provides information and directions to passengers.
- Maintains proper radio communication with the Control Center and responds to all instructions and related requests in a timely manner.
- Adjusts route and destination signs when necessary.
- Follows established procedures for handling disruptive incidents and emergency situations.
- Returns vehicles to proper place in garage at end of run, places transmission selector in neutral or park, as is appropriate to vehicle type, and completes post-trip vehicle inspection procedures.
- Keeps all vehicle exits, entrances, and interior surfaces clear of refuse.
- Removes ice or slush from vehicle steps and ramps.
- Inspects bulletin boards and posted memos each day.
- Completes forms and documents as required.
- Reports all accidents immediately and submits a complete written report and attends related court proceedings as needed.
- Provides in-service training for new operators as needed.
- Operates assigned runs in accordance with given instructions.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Outstanding customer service required.
- Valid Class B Indiana Commercial Driver’s License with passenger, and air brake endorsement with ability to pass DOT physical – OR the ability to obtain a valid Class B Indiana Commercial Driver’s License with passenger, and air brake endorsement with ability to pass DOT physical during the initial training period.
- Must meet motor vehicle license and criminal background standards established by the Corporation.
- Knowledge of traffic rules and regulations.
- Some mechanical aptitude required.
- Physically and mentally qualified to safely operate commercial passenger vehicle and perform all related essential job functions.
- Must participate in ongoing random drug and alcohol testing, as this is a safety sensitive position.

Salary : $20 - $24
