About City Youth Now:
City Youth Now (CYN) provides education, employment, and extracurricular support to youth with experience in San Francisco’s foster care and juvenile justice systems. We offer youth paid internships, professional development workshops, scholarships, college tours, and grants for essential needs and extracurricular activities. Our programming inside Juvenile Hall includes academic tutoring, college visits, musical performances, and more.
Our team consists of a full-time Executive Director, a full-time Program Manager, a full-time Youth Services Coordinator, a part-time Bookkeeper, and a part-time Grant Writer. We collaborate with volunteers including board members, interns, and community partners. We’re a small but mighty team dedicated to equity, youth voice, and opportunity.
Position Overview:
The Youth Services Coordinator is responsible for leading our Youth Partnering for Education & Employment (YPEE) Program and managing the distribution of essential resources to youth and families (e.g., clothing, hygiene kits, school supplies). This role also supports community outreach and engagement, event fundraising, communications, and data collection and analysis to strengthen program impact.
This position reports to the Executive Director and works in close collaboration with the Program Manager.
With three full-time staff, this role requires someone who is organized, people-centered, and proactive; capable of wearing many hats and contributing to both program operations and resource coordination.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Youth Program Coordination (YPEE)
- Coordinate application intake and orientations for the Readiness Skills Academy; place approximately 45 youth interns each year at CYN internship host sites, including Boys & Girls Clubs of SF, Rec & Park, and other additional community partners.
- Provide youth with employment case management and career guidance, including (but not limited to) assistance with obtaining job documentation, supporting with job application follow-ups, and any other career guidance skills
- Conduct regular site visits and maintain strong collaboration with partner organizations serving as CYN internship host sites
- Plan and facilitate weekly professional development workshops, job-shadowing opportunities, and college tour events for youth participants
- Design, edit, and update youth program materials, including workshop flyers, handouts, and internship packets.
CYN Resource Coordination & Distribution
- Organize and maintain inventory of in-kind donations (e.g. clothing, hygiene products, school supplies)
- Support with incoming donations and outgoing distributions using Excel or Salesforce
- Coordinate with youth, case managers, and staff to fulfill resource requests
- Prepare and distribute essential kits or items for youth and families on a regular and as-needed basis
- Support donor data tracking and resource-related reports as needed
Communications & Outreach
- Create and update organizational forms, newsletters, and outreach materials
- Communicate with clients, families, and service providers to improve programming
- Support youth storytelling and social media efforts as appropriate
Event & Fundraising Support
- Help plan and execute youth events including the CYN’s annual holiday events and Juvenile Hall visits
- Assist with fundraising activities and donation drives by preparing materials and coordinating logistics
- Support youth participation in events by ensuring access to necessary supplies
Data & Office Management
- Collect and maintain client and program records in accordance with privacy/confidentiality policies
- Assist in preparing reports and tracking youth participation, outcomes, and resource impact
- Support day-to-day organization of program files, supplies, and workspace
Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or 2 years of experience in youth programs, social work, education, or related fields
- At least 2-3 years of work experience, especially in youth development, direct service, or nonprofit environments
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort with basic data tracking and documentation
- Must pass a LiveScan fingerprint background check
- Must be available to work occasional evenings or weekends for youth events or fundraisers
- Access to a personal vehicle is preferred for travel to community sites and events; mileage reimbursement is available.
Preferred Skills
- Passion for social justice and understanding of systemic barriers faced by system-impacted youth
- Experience working with adolescents and young adults
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Canva, Excel, Google Suite, or WordPress
- Bi-lingual proficiency is a plus
- Experience in event planning, case management, or donation coordination a bonus
Physical Demands
- Ability to work at a desk 50–75% of the time
- Must be able to lift and move boxes up to 50 pounds for donation/event needs
- Will need to move throughout the office and storage spaces to access supplies and materials
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly wage: $24–$25.50 per hour
