Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise all activities in the service department
- Hire, train, and evaluate technicians and service advisors
- Develop and implement service policies and procedures with the GM
- Communicate with customers and resolve any issues or complaints
- Ensure efficient use of resources and manage departmental budgets
- Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to increase revenue and profitability
- Maintain accurate records of service department activities
Requirements
An automotive service manager should have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, although a college degree is preferred
- At least five years of experience in the automotive service industry, with at least three years in a management role
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Proficiency in computer software and industry-specific programs
