Pay Rate: $180-200k DOE
Our client, a local food brand, is looking for a Vice President of Manufacturing to add to their team!
Vice President of Manufacturing Responsibilities:
- Lead all day-to-day manufacturing operations across a ~200-person plant.
- Lead production and fulfillment strategies by contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to executive leadership.
- Develop and execute production schedules.
- Improve organizational structures to support effective production and fulfillment processes, assigning responsibilities, and delegating accountability.
- Maintain high standards of customer satisfaction with product quality, packaging quality, order accuracy and on-time performance
- Oversee and monitor safety and security for the facility and for our employees. Ensure proper training is conducted and documented, with safety compliance always adhered to.
- Work closely with Executive Management and Finance, enhancing workflow through automation.
- Alongside relevant stakeholders, oversee food safety and quality systems including SQF, HACCP, GMP, and all relevant regulatory compliance.
- Manage customer and third-party audits across retail and CPG accounts.
- Lead, develop, and retain a team of supervisors, leads, and hourly plant employees.
- Communicate and reinforce values, policies and procedures while managing, training, coaching, counseling and reviewing job contributions of division heads and department staff.
- Partner with HR on workforce planning, hiring, training, and retention strategies.
- Make employment decisions and/or recommendations on hiring, improvement plans, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, pay adjustments, etc.
- Optimize scheduling across common seasonal demand spikes.
- Drive technology adoption where it improves efficiency and traceability.
- Own the manufacturing Profits & Loss, including budgeting, labor costs, overhead, and COGS targets.
- Provide leadership with clear operational KPIs and variance analysis.
Vice President of Manufacturing Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, or Chemical), Operations Management, or a related technical field required.
- 10–12 years of progressive manufacturing experience, with at least 4–5 years in a senior leadership role (Director level or above) managing a sizeable hourly workforce.
- Food manufacturing experience is required. (Industries such as confectionery, snacks, bakery, or specialty food backgrounds transfer well, while heavy industrial or non-food manufacturing backgrounds do not.)
- Direct experience with at least two of the following: eCommerce, brick-and-mortar retail, or CPG.
- Proven P&L ownership, including budget building.
- Hands-on experience with SQF, HACCP, GMP, and FDA/FSMA compliance.
- Demonstrated experience scaling a manufacturing operation through headcount, throughput, or capacity.
- Experience managing through significant seasonal demand swings.
