Terms Of Employment
The Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, shall employ the Food Service Worker. The annual period of service is 190 days. This is a non-contract, at-will position. The Fair Dismissal Act does not apply to this position.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Manages, coordinates the day-to-day food service operations of an assigned school site; assure compliance with District, State and Federal requirements and laws regarding nutrition, sanitation, safety and record-keeping; select. Schedule, supervise, direct, and evaluate assigned food service workers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
- Estimates, and orders amount of food and supplies needed; monitors and controls expenditures; maintains assigned budget
- Assist in the preparation of various foods for cooking and serving.
- Use portion control to equally portion all foods.
- Implement state/local health codes as they relate to food service.
- Oversees the set up of food on serving lines and/or steam tables and serves meals or meal components according to approved standards.
- Inspects the lunchroom and kitchen area daily to assure compliance with health, safety and sanitation requirements and regulations.
- Trains and assists employees in the proper handling of foods, correct use and care of equipment and high standards of sanitation and safety
- Supervises and participates in food preparation and distribution to District students and staff
- Handles money for meals, supplemental foods, and beverages served during the day according to the approved cask collection procedure.
- Operates and cleans all kitchen equipment such as ranges, ovens, mixers. Steamers, tilting skillets, choppers, and dishwashing machines.
- Stores foods and supplies in accordance with instructions and assists in taking inventories.
- Assists as needed in receiving of goods ordered.
- Communicates with students, staff, faculty and outside organizations to exchange information, and resolves issues related to food service
- Participates in, schedules and attends in-service meetings and workshops related to assignment.
- Follow appropriate dress code to represent school food service in a professional manner.
