Substitute Teaching Assistants work under the direction of the classroom teacher to provide instructional and classroom support, helping create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Job Duties:
- Assisting the classroom teacher with implementing lesson plans and providing small group support and reinforcement of lesson as needed or assigned.
- Supporting students with special needs (such as academic, behavioral or social-emotional needs) with individualized education plans (IEP's) under the direction of the teacher.
- Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other assigned times.
- Communicating effectively with teachers and staff to ensure student needs are met.
- Assist with record keeping, prepares communication and classroom materials, organizes supplies and maintain a clean and orderly learning environment.
- Promote positive student behavior, engagement and a safe classroom environment.
- Perform other classroom support duties as assigned.
This is a 7.5 hour/day. Position and assignments vary based on location and District needs.
Job Qualifications
Minimum: High School Diploma/GED
Valid NYS Certification Preferred*
