We are seeking a dedicated Classroom-Based Behavior Specialist to join our team in a social-emotional classroom setting. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide direct social-emotional and behavioral support and intervention to students within the classroom environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, expertise in behavior management strategies, and a passion for supporting students with diverse needs.
Responsibilities:
- Implement district-adopted models, policies, procedures, and documentation (i.e. MTSS, PBIS, TCIS, FBAs, BIPs, ICMPs, etc.) at the classroom level.
- Consult, train, and support classroom staff on collection, entry, and analysis of data utilized in progress monitoring; help to determine the behavioral impact on academic progress and develop indicators of academic, social emotional, and behavioral health of students in the classroom.
- Provides consultation and intervention regarding behavior management, effective education and assessment of behavioral needs of students with and without disabilities
Job Qualifications
- Valid NYS certification as a School Psychologist, School Social Worker, School Counselor or
- Special Education Teacher is required
- BCBA or courseworkin Applied Behavior Analysis preferred
- Must have strong working knowledge of PBIS/Rtl/MTSS
- Experience working with children/adolescents with a variety of psychiatric and/ or behavioral disorders
- Experience developing Functional Behavioral Assessments, positive behavioral supports
- Experience working with staff and administrators on interventions to support student behavior
