The main mission of the City Rescue Mission of Lansing, since its founding, has remained to teach the Word of God as found in the Christian Bible (Romans 10:13-15), edify and equip the saints to be committed followers of Jesus Christ and His teachings (Ephesians 4:11-13), and present an authentic representation of traditional, Biblical Christianity (Philippians 1:9-11). Reports To: The Customer Service Coordinator will report to the Customer Service Manager and the Uplift Thrift Manager.
Job Overview: This role is vital in the running of the Uplift Thrift. The Customer Service Coordinator processes transactions on the registers, oversees the entry, and cleans, organizes, and re-stocks assigned sections of the sales floor. Welcoming each customer, helping as needed, and ensuring a pleasant and accurate check-out and payment experience. The Customer Service Coordinator must also be able to complete tasks independently and accurately while staying calm under pressure. The Customer Service Coordinator must be able to multitask well and maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
Expected Schedule- Combination of 1 and 2 – Part Time- Exact schedule varies – Shifts are 10am-3pm and 3pm-8pm. Weekends and Holidays as scheduled (Rotation). 5-hour shifts.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Greet Customers as they enter and exit the store
- Accurately account for cash drawer throughout shift. Counting in and out at the start/end of each shift.
- Complete transactions with customers on the cash register- offering punctual, friendly service
- Ensure accurate transactions on the cash register- both credit card and cash.
- Maintain assigned areas for the sales floor- ensuring it is stocked, clean, properly priced, etc
- Stay within sight of the cash register, ensuring no customers are left waiting at the registers
- Maintain good communication with the department, utilizing all available tools
- Maintain a clean and orderly workspace
- Attend all meetings and training sessions as scheduled
- Show the love of Christ and be ready to share the gospel
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma- Preferred
- 1 Year Retail Experience- Preferred
- Basic Microsoft Suite Experience- e.g. Email, Word Documents- Required
Skills
- Strong grasp of mathematics, able to catch and correct errors when making change and processing transactions
- Dynamic people skills, able to interact with and put at ease people from all walks of life
- Ability to learn and independently use new software within 15 days of introduction.
- Ability to answer, transfer, and hold calls on a phone system that spans multiple facilities within 15 days of introduction.
- Ability to respectfully interact with customers, City Rescue Mission guests, and volunteers no matter their background, temperament, preferences, or life choices
- Detail oriented, organized, thorough, and possessing the ability to multitask well

Environment
The Customer Service Coordinator will need to be able to work constantly in a noisy and distraction-filled environment. The Customer Service Coordinator’s task will occasionally require them to work in low temperatures, high temperatures, outdoor elements (e.g. rain, wind, snow), and small/enclosed spaces.
Physical Requirements-
The below listed abilities are required to be able to complete the essential duties of the role:
The Customer Service Coordinator will need to be able to constantly lift 25lbs in all directions and will occasionally need to lift up to 50lbs in all directions. They will need to be able to complete 1-2 hours of physically taxing work without a break and stand or walk for 3 hours without sitting down. They will occasionally need to complete 3 hours of physically taxing work without a break and be able to move with haste for 500ft.
The Customer Service Coordinator will need to be able to constantly complete visual scans of indoor/outdoor areas in varying levels of light. They will need to constantly complete tasks with repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. They will need to be able to constantly communicate clearly with others to exchange information.
