What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Interior Designer / Design Lead position at City Point Homes?
City Point Homes
Draper, Utah area | Remote initially, hybrid/in-office over time
About the role
City Point Homes is hiring a senior-level interior designer to take ownership of the interior design side of our custom modern luxury homes. This is not a support role. We are looking for someone with strong design taste, excellent client instincts, and the ability to lead the design process from early vision through final installation.
You will work directly with ownership, but this role is meant to drive the design side forward with real autonomy. The right person can create beautiful, highly resolved spaces, move efficiently, communicate clearly with clients, and build systems that help us scale without losing design quality.
About us
City Point Homes is a Draper-based modern luxury design-build firm focused on custom homes with a strong architectural point of view and high-end interior execution. We care deeply about clean design, thoughtful details, and delivering a streamlined client experience without sacrificing quality.
What you’ll own
- Lead the interior design process for custom modern luxury homes from concept through completion
- Translate client vision into cohesive, high-level design direction while keeping within their budgets
- Develop finish palettes, material selections, plumbing/lighting specifications, cabinetry direction, and furnishing concepts where applicable
- Create polished client presentations, design boards, and selection packages
- Collaborate with ownership, drafting, and construction teams to ensure designs are both exceptional and buildable
- Coordinate selections, specifications, allowances, procurement direction, and design documentation
- Help refine and systematize the design process as the company grows
- Maintain a high standard of design quality across multiple active projects
What we’re looking for
- 5 years of high-end residential interior design experience, preferably in custom homes or design-build
- Strong portfolio demonstrating refined, elevated design taste, preferably with modern or transitional-modern work
- Ability to lead clients confidently through the design process
- Strong material knowledge and a sharp eye for composition, restraint, scale, and detail
- Comfortable balancing creativity with budget, constructability, and schedule realities
- Organized, proactive, and capable of owning deadlines and decisions
- Proficiency in industry-standard design tools; experience collaborating with residential plans/specs is important
- Bonus if you have experience in cabinetry design, furnishings, procurement, or install coordination
This role is a fit if you
- Want real ownership, not just task execution
- Can move fast without becoming sloppy
- Care about strong design but also know how to get decisions made
- Are excited to help shape the design side of a growing modern luxury home firm
Compensation
- Competitive salary based on experience
- PTO
- Long-term growth opportunity as the design side expands
