Position: Field Operations Equipment Operator

Reports to: Field Operations Crew Leader/Foreman/Superintendent

Department: O-4

FLSA Status: Non - Exempt/Hourly

Core Schedule: M-F 7:00a-4:00p

Job Summary: Under general supervision, serves to maintain lines of the water and wastewater system; and does related work as required.

Key Accountabilities:

Employee is responsible for but not limited to the following.

· Basic knowledge or the ability to learn water distribution and waste water collections systems.

· Knowledge of the tools and equipment used to maintain the lines throughout the city.

· Knowledge of the tools and equipment used and preventative maintenance practices.

· Ability to understand and to follow instructions. All other related duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

· The familiarity with or ability to learn principles and practices applied in the operation and maintenance of water systems.

· Ability to inspect utility lines and to detect flaws and defects.

· Ability to quantify amounts registered on meters and charts accurately and maintain records of operations.

· Ability to understand and follow instructions.

· Ability to operate equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.

Educational Requirements:

· Graduation from an accredited high school or its equivalent (GED)

· Valid Kentucky driver's license.

· Knowledge and experience with operating medium equipment; backhoe, skid steer, mini excavator.

Work Environment:

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear.

· Use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms.

· Perform repetitive movements of hands or wrist.

· Ability to work in inclement weather for extended periods of time.

· Ability to lift 25/50/75 pounds regularly.

· Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.

· Ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.31 - $18.84 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Work Location: In person
