What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Crew Worker position at City of York?
Summary:
The Utilities Crew worker performs general utilities maintenance activities for the City of York in accordance with all applicable policies, codes and regulations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
· Rakes and blow leaves, cuts grass, prunes shrubs, sprays chemicals, weeds beds, and picks up trash.
· Operates trucks, tractors, mowers, and related grounds maintenance equipment.
· Plants and cares for trees, shrubs, turf grass, and flowers.
· Performs routine maintenance on tools and equipment.
· Assists in reading water meters and repairs.
· Performs routine sludge removal at the wastewater treatment plant.
· Performs all other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational needs.
· Clean streets and operate the seasonal leaf vacuum truck.
· Repair street signs.
· Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, other City employees, and the general public.
· Responds to emergency calls.
· Assists other Departments with maintenance tasks as required.
Qualifications and Required/Preferred Skills:
· Completion of high school/GED or specialized vocational training and one to two years of experience in utilities maintenance work.
· Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with other staff, vendors, contractors, and the general public.
· Operate heavy and specialized equipment.
· Perform maintenance and repairs.
· Organized and detail-oriented with strong level of accuracy and the ability to multi-task.
· Ability to prioritize and adhere to strict deadlines.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
