What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Technician position at City of York?
Provides end user technical support by taking phone calls and responding to emails concerning end user issues; providing technical assistance to end users; resolving PC, internet, network and printer issues while working with the end user; providing basic training to end users on how to operate company software and desktops.
Configures desktop PC's, laptops, and printers by installing operating systems and drivers as well as company specific programs and software; configuring network properties; installing network and personal printers; configuring and repairing hardware.
Deploys workstations and systems by taking computer systems and hardware to employee offices; installing the computer systems and connecting it to the network; testing and configuring to ensure functionality.
Draft and send out mass communication to end users on the behalf of the IT office; working with vendors and management to ensure invoices and quotes are settled; other duties as assigned. Associates degree in Computer Sciences required. Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences preferred.
Comp TIA A , Net , or Microsoft/Cisco Certification Equivalent preferred.
Over one year up to and including three years relative experience.
All persons who become employed by the City on or after the effective date of this section (May 18, 2022) shall be or become residents of York County or any county contiguous to York County (Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Hartford, Baltimore, and Carroll Counties), within six months form the first date the employee achieves permanent employment status.
Must pass a background check, Drug Test and provide a PA Child Abuse History Clearance Certificate. Must provide State and Federal background clearances and Mandated Report Certification.
Note: Child Abuse History Clearance must be dated within one year from the date of application and must show that "no record exists".
