What are the responsibilities and job description for the Auto Mechanic II position at City of York?
The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance and repairs on a City-owned fleet of vehicles and other specialized equipment. This is accomplished by performing routine preventative maintenance and repairs on various vehicles such as heavy and light duty trucks, construction equipment, cars, and lawn & garden equipment; answering telephone; scheduling appointments; providing direction to other employees in the shop; and assisting other employees in the City departments. The person in this position will have considerable experience in diesel engines and equipment. Other duties include maintaining accurate record keeping of maintenance; and securing cost effective pricing on parts & supplies.
Maintains and repairs vehicles by setting up lift for maintenance on vehicles; changing oil and filters; lubricating chassis; performing required state inspections; maintaining essential parts such as starters, batteries, brakes, radiators, etc.; taking service calls; scheduling for sublet repairs; dropping off and picking up vehicles; and performing miscellaneous repairs such as welding, brazing, and fabrication.Answers telephones and keeps records by providing accurate information for callers and walk-ins; scheduling maintenance appointments; filling out work orders; and compiling and ordering parts when needed.Over one year up to and including three years.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Valid PA Commercial Driver's License Class B
PA State Inspection License
Must pass a background check, Drug Test and provide a PA Child Abuse Certificate, marked "no record exists" and dated within one year of hire date.
