The Probation Officer is responsible for professional and technical social casework and supervising and counseling adult offenders sentenced to probation by the District Court. This position will ensure that the offenders comply with the court-ordered conditions by developing and implementing treatment programs for individuals to reduce the risk of future criminality. The Probation Officer conducts investigations and prepares reports to assist the judges in determining the most appropriate sentence of individuals brought before the court.
A person in this position must possess a bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or closely related field. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
