PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible to provide maintenance, diagnosis, and repair engines and equipment within the City's fleet; position also responsible for maintaining a safe and clean shop environment. The work is performed under the supervision of the Operations Manager.

SCHEDULE:
Regular Days/Hours for Position: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Vocational diploma in automotive, heavy equipment or diesel repair with a minimum of three (3) years mechanical repair experience; or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
- A valid Illinois Class A commercial driver's license with tanker and air brake endorsements with acceptable driving record for eligibility of City coverage. If this requirement is not met upon hire, the Class B CDL must be obtained within the designated time period.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience in Public Works, construction, or landscaping fleet repair.
- Automotive, Diesel, or Industrial dealership experience.
SALARY & BENFITS:
Starting pay rate is $32.75 per hour in accordance with the Local 150 Union contract. Position includes eligibility for full benefits package of group health insurance, benefit time, and IMRF retirement plan.
