MAINTENANCE WORKER I - WATER AND SEWER MAINTENANCE DIVISIONPUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENTJob Summary: This position is responsible to perform a wide variety of manual labor and operate equipment and various vehicles to assist in the maintenance, repair, and operation of sanitary sewer collection, storm sewer and water distribution systems. Work is performed under the supervision of the Water and Sewer Utilities Superintendent with direction from the Water and Sewer Maintenance Foreman.For a complete description of responsibilities, please refer to the Job Description attached.Minimum Required Qualifications (what you need to minimally have to be considered):High school diploma/equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years' responsible work experience in utility maintenance experience; or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. A valid Illinois Class B commercial driver's license with air brake and tanker endorsements and an acceptable driving record for eligibility of City coverage. If this requirement is not met upon hire, the Class B CDL must be obtained within the designated time period.Preferred Qualifications:Class D Water Operators LicenseIEPA Collection System Operators License Salary & Benefits:Starting pay rate is $25.63 per hour in accordance with the Local 150 Union contract.
