SEASONAL LABORER
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
GENERAL POSITION OVERVIEW:
The City of Wixom is seeking seasonal laborers to work April 15, 2026 through November 30, 2026 for the Department of Public Works.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License
- Must pass drug testing, physical exam and background check
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience driving a truck with a trailer (preferred)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Operate truck with trailer, lawn mower, weed/lawn trimmer
- Perform a variety of tasks involving digging holes and trenches, cutting grass, cleaning comfort stations
- Pick up rubbish, brush, leaves and other refuse as required
- Operate power-driven equipment and hand tools
- Assist in street cold patching, crack filling, grading and mowing
- Assist with maintenance of cemetery, park and playground areas which includes repairing of play structures, dragging and lining ball fields, cleaning of public restrooms
- Planting and watering of trees, shrubs and flowers
- Perform other duties as required
SALARY RANGE:
$16.50 per hour DOQ
