The City of Wisconsin Rapids has an employment opportunity for a Laborer position within the Department of Public Works – Street Department. The purpose of this position is perform manual labor work of varying skill levels, assisting in construction, repairing and maintaining city streets, sidewalks, and underground infrastructure.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Brush collection
· Repair and maintenance of city streets
· Sewer construction
· Storm cleanup
· Snow removal and ice control
· General common labor duties of varying degrees of difficulty
· Operate various types of equipment
· Other duties as assigned
Requirements for this position include a minimum of two years of street and/or sewer construction experience and the ability to drive CMVs and operate various heavy equipment. Ability to climb ladders in and out of a trench, walk long distances, good hand/eye coordination, and depth perception, and able to lift up to 75lbs. A valid CDL or ability to obtain one within 12 months of employment is required. If a CDL is already obtained, registration with FMCSA is required.
The pay rate is $23.06 to $27.13 per hour, with the ability to eventually earn up to $31.20 per hour.
