What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Servicer - Meter position at City of Winston-Salem?
Performs intermediate semiskilled work maintaining water meters and boxes, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Senior Water Servicer. This position is subject to shift hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Utilizes City vehicle; utilizes an iPad and other devices to assist with job duties; disconnects/connects water service; meter/meter box maintenance; install or remove meters; troubleshoot and repair minor leaks.
- Provides customer service; manages assigned truck maintenance and truck inventory.
- Locates and reads water meters on assigned route and records consumption on the meters that are not part of the AMI system.
- Keeps records of meters read and reports meters not accessible for reading.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: General knowledge of related industry methods, supporting compliance with regulatory standards & procedures as recommended. Knowledgeable of reading & recording water meter consumption. General knowledge of AMI system & meters. Geographical knowledge of surrounding locations; working in adverse weather conditions; use of hand tools; ability to use an automated consumption recording device; managing adverse situations. Developing and maintaining an effective working relationship with associates, supervisors, and the public.
