The City of Wilmington is looking for a motivated and experienced professional to join our Design and Construction Departments Project Management Division as a

Project Manager - Stormwater. This is an opportunity to lead meaningful projects that directly impact the safety, sustainability, resilience, and quality of life of our community.

In this role, youll be at the center of some of Wilmingtons most important infrastructure investments. Working closely with a diverse team of professionals, youll guide stormwater capital improvement projects from planning and technical analysis through design, permitting, construction, and completion.

Projects may include drainage

improvements, open and closed drainage systems, green infrastructure, water quality improvements, easement acquisition, utility relocation, and street improvements. Youll also manage consulting engineering and surveying contracts, support public outreach, conduct permit and design reviews, and provide construction administration and management.

Experience With Stormwater Management Engineering Is Preferred.

## Typical Tasks

  • Provide engineering, technical, and administrative guidance for various types of drainage capital improvement projects.
  • Negotiate and administer contracts for design and construction services.
  • Provide fiscal management of capital improvement projects to include preparation of opinions of probable cost, development of alternatives for value engineering, monitoring budgets, negotiation of contract amendments and change orders, and invoicing.
  • Oversee and manage consultants and contractors regarding performance, contract duties, project status, and scheduling.
  • Incorporate design or construction changes into the work product to address unforeseen conditions.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders throughout the planning, design, and construction of drainage capital improvement projects for administrative and technical input and feedback.
  • Coordinate property acquisitions with the City's Property Acquisitions Specialist.
  • Manage the public bid process.
  • Manage public relations and resolve citizen concerns.
  • Chair public information meetings, design coordination meetings, pre-bid meetings, pre-construction meetings, and progress meetings.
  • Represent the City of Wilmington in meetings with regulatory agencies.
  • Author technical specifications and develop or improve construction details.
  • Assist in updates to the Technical Standards and Specifications Manual.
  • Participate on various internal and external committees.
  • Pursue continuous professional development.

## Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (or similar technical field of study from an accredited university.

Experience Requirements

  • 3 years of progressive work experience in public works project management or

equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in drainage infrastructure planning, engineering design, and construction preferred.

Other Requirements

Class C Drivers License

Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time.

Working Conditions

This position generally requires work indoors/office setting as well as site visits during project design and construction.
