The City of Wilmer, Texas Police Department is currently seeking qualified candidates for: POLICE OFFICER
Work Schedule: 12 Hour Shifts with Every Other Weekend Off
ABOUT THE POSITION
Officer's responsibilities to include patrol, investigation, traffic regulation, crime prevention, and related enforcement activities. Knowledge of criminal, civil, juvenile and traffic laws and regulations; knowledge of City codes and ordinances; court systems and procedures; safety regulations applicable to motorized vehicles and equipment. Knowledge of routine vehicle and equipment maintenance, skill and proficiency in the use of firearms, weapons, radio equipment, radar and all other duties as assigned. Have proficiency in report writing and computer skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 21 years of age;
- High school graduate or have a GED with 12 hours of college credit (TCOLE requirement)
- Possess a valid Texas Driver’s License
- Pass a written test
- Pass a background investigation (TCOLE requirement)
- Pass oral interview
- Pass a pre-employment physical exam, psychological screening & drug test. (TCOLE requirement)
- MUST BE TCOLE CERTIFIED
