What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel Attendant [Part-Time] position at City of Williston?
Summary: The Kennel Attendant will perform necessary work involved in cleaning, feeding, and maintaining the animal housing areas at the City of Williston Animal Pound. WPD is seeking individuals with experience working around animals, who have a strong work ethic, are self-motivated and efficient.
*The Kennel Attendant will generally work 20 hours per week, roughly 3-4 hours per day, Monday - Friday. In most instances, the workday for the Kennel Attendant will begin in the morning hours.*
Reporting Structure:
Works under the general supervision of the Administrative Lieutenant.

Essential Job Functions
- Provide daily care for animals in the pound, including feeding the animals and cleaning the kennels and pound facility.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, promptly reporting any issues or concerns to the supervisor.
- Follow all safety protocols to prevent injuries to animals and staff.
- Complete necessary paperwork for legal and administrative purposes.
- Keep the pound facility clean and organized, including animal enclosures, common areas, and outdoor spaces.
- Perform general maintenance tasks as needed to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
- Wash and disinfect dishes, litter pans, toys, and bedding.
- Disinfect all cages and runs to include indoors and outside.
- Keep all animal areas clean by sweeping and mopping.
- Remove animal waste products.
- Must be able to work independently and without supervision.
- Must demonstrate strong attention to detail.
- All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Six months of employment or volunteer experience working with animals is preferred.
- Must pass a City of Williston background check.
Physical Demands:
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time; to regularly stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 50 lbs. of weight; use of standard office equipment; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Work Environment:
Work in a typical kennel environment; ability to work alone; incumbents may be exposed to noise, dust, inclement weather conditions, and potentially hostile environments; loud noises; exposure to hazardous work conditions including contact with potentially dangerous, wild, and diseased animals; exposure to bites, scratches, and animal waste.
