What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Counselor position at City of Williamsburg, VA?
The City of Williamsburg is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Youth Counselor. This position is responsible for assisting the Youth Program Coordinator and the Human Services department in addressing the needs of city youth and their families through the provision of community-based wrap around services. Youth Counselors are responsible for serving city youth participating in group programming as well as mentoring services. Youth Counselors will facilitate programming, activities, and field trips focused on academic and life skills development. Programming will focus on respect, responsibility, and role modeling. Youth Counselors will provide mentoring services to assigned youth which includes developing goals and connecting to services. Position is subject to available funding, program and youth needs in any given year.
Multi-hire for Youth Counselors to facilitate our after-school program for middle school youth. Candidates must be available to work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 2:30pm-7pm. Other variable hours for mentoring may be available. Hourly rate will be $19.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience/training in youth or family service programs
Special Qualifications:
- Acceptable criminal history and DMV background checks and drug screen
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
