The Recreation Aide 2 is an entry-level, seasonal or part-time position responsible for providing exceptional customer service and hands-on support for recreational activities at Watson Park. This role involves interacting directly with the public, assisting with concessions, coordinating games, and maintaining recreational facilities and equipment. Recreation Aides play a key role in ensuring visitors have a safe, enjoyable, and engaging experience. Assignments vary based on program needs, and duties may include cash handling, basic food preparation, officiating sports activities, and performing light custodial tasks. Under direct supervision, employees are expected to carry out tasks efficiently, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, and support a positive and welcoming environment for all park guests.

- Serves customers at concession counter.
- Receives and disburses cash.
- Prepares and handles food.
- Stocks concession products.
- Performs basic equipment maintenance.
- Supervises children, organizes and leads games and assists with class instruction.

- Performs basic custodial duties.
- Sets up and takes down building furnishings and arrangements.

- Ability to teach students who have a wide variety of experience and aptitude.

Required Experience and training
- Must be at least 15 years of age or older.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.
Preferred Experience and training
- Prior general customer service experience.
- Prior cash handling experience.
Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of a criminal record check.
Starting pay for current City employees will be determined by City of Wichita policy or applicable bargaining unit agreement.
