BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
This position is a fellow who currently attends school as an undergraduate or graduate student who has an interest in pursuing a career in the public health field. No specific public health knowledge is necessary. The position will spend time with Environmental, WIC, (Women Infant Children) Health Promotions, Administration/Lab and Animal Services within the Health Department to learn about the role of public health in the community; the individual will also spend time in the program they may have an interest in as a future career. Individuals will develop goals and objectives, specific to their interests and the needs of the department, with their supervisor.
Position will report to the Lead Grants & Billing Manager.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
This internship is a part time program lasting up to nine weeks; individual may work 20-40 hours per week, depending on duration of internship and needs of student. Position may not work more than 999 hours in a calendar year. Candidates must be currently enrolled in a public health related program to be considered qualified. A copy of one’s syllabus may be requested.
A successful fellow will have a willingness to learn and a desire to learn more about public health.
Specific fellowship projects will depend on the candidate’s skills, education, and career interests.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Formal Education Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with six months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Junior college, vocational, business, and technical or correspondence schools are likely sources. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.
