BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to serve in the survey crew to conduct field topographical surveys, gather field data, establish right-of-way boundaries and perform construction layout and staking. This is accomplished by utilizing and operating survey equipment, recording field data, researching records, reading and understanding construction plans, performing mathematical calculations and communicating with project managers and citizens. Other duties may be assigned such as assisting with construction inspection and material testing.

2 H Assist the Party Chief to conduct surveys and gather field data to ascertain the locations of natural and man-made structures on the earth’s surface using electronic distance and angle measuring devices and other surveying instruments
3 M Perform primary calculations to determine traverse closures and adjustments, azimuths and bearings, level runs, and placement of horizontal and vertical control for project sites. Lay out proposed projects such as utility lines or facilities by use of standard surveying procedures.
4 L Assist the Party Chief in verifying drafting accuracy by comparing finished drawings to actual field conditions and make changes as required.
5 M Search for property corners, right of way markers and benchmark monuments.
