Under the general supervision of the Recreation Manager and Athletic Supervisor, this position provides support with operational duties at the City's Parks & Recreation facilities, including, but not limited to, preparation and monitoring of activities, clerical work, clean-up, and serving the general public in a polite, courteous, and professional manner.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with class registrations, money collection, clerical and data entry for activity scheduling;
- Assists with the monitoring and supervision of recreational activities at various Parks & Recreation facilities with an emphasis on public relations with patrons, instructors, parents, and participants;
- Assists Parks & Recreation Staff in other recreational needs with miscellaneous duties as required;
- Perform basic office duties such as answering phones, making copies, faxing, filing, gathering data, and light cleaning;
Perform required make-ready and clean-up duties prior to, during, and end of a work shift.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- CPR and AED certified, or able to obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment;
- Strong computer skills, ability to learn recreation (Point of Sale) POS system;
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Flexible, energetic, outgoing personality;
- Self-starter, punctual, attentive to detail, and ability to work well with others;
Must have reliable transportation.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Must be at least 16 years of age;
- Work various shifts as project and park needs dictate, including nights, weekends, and holidays;
- Have a professional, energetic, and positive attitude at all times;
- Comfortable working with and interacting with guests;
- Work within a team environment to accomplish common goals;
- Willing to take direction from managers and supervisors;
Have a good grasp of reading, writing, and math.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bilingual;
- Basic working knowledge of a variety of park and recreational programs and activities;
Good customer service experience and skills.
NOTE
Any work related experience resulting in acceptable and proven proficiency levels in the above required knowledge, skills, abilities, or licensing could be considered as a possible substitute for the above industry specified training or experience requirements for this position.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Requires the flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required;
- Working in a high-paced customer service environment at multiple rental sites;
- Demonstrate patience and flexibility in changing job demands and interactions with the public, visitors, and employees;
- Skilled in communicating with the public as to quickly and accurately dispense information orally, in writing, and on the phone with City personnel and the public, at times under emotionally stressful conditions;
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, climb, stoop, kneel, push, pull, shove, crouch, talk, hear, and use hands to finger/handle, feel, reach with hands;
- Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects;
- Work indoors and outdoors;
- Will be required to work with janitorial chemicals, products, and tools;
- Regular and timely attendance is required for this position;
- Listen, read, understand and relays information;
