What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Works Maintenance Worker position at City of White Oak?
Summary: Under the general direction of the public works crew leader. Performs skills and semi-skills in general labor, to maintain infrastructure, facilities, and grounds for the City Of White Oak, including but not limited to water distribution; storm/sanitary sewer water collection; streets, and alleys. In coordination with the utility billing department, performs meter reading, connects and disconnects, repairs, and replaces water utility meters and components. Complies with all safety regulations and procedures.
Essential duties and responsibilities: Performs a variety of specialized equipment operation and labor tasks in order to maintain streets, roadways, water and sewer systems, infrastructure, and facilities as assigned. Duties will vary according to job assignment. Reports problems in emergency situations; recognize, and avoids reports of unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries. Provides customer service in response to questions within the scope of authority. Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: none
Physical demands: Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, with exposure to moderate noise levels and hazardous equipment. Requires constant physical efforts, standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, kneeling, and driving. Ability to lift and move objects way up to 40 pounds.
Required education, degrees, certificates/or licenses:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Valid Class C Texas driver’s license
Ability to obtain a Texas commission on environmental quality (TCEQ) class D water license and TCEQ collection license class 1.
