The City of Westminster is seeking an Assistant Superintendent for the Water Treatment Plant that will be responsible for assisting in overseeing the daily operation of the Water Treatment Plant and well operations to provide potable water for public consumption and in sufficient quantity for firefighting. This position assists the Superintendent in supervising, instructing, training, and assigning daily duties to Water Treatment Plant personnel, including scheduling work shifts and ensuring the correct and efficient completion of work orders, and supervises operations at the wells.
This position is responsible for reviewing logs and reports for accuracy, acts on changes in use as needed, including water service interruption and high water consumption and collects, analyzes, and interprets water samples and makes chemical and load decisions based on the results. This position also represents the City in dealings with City water customers, including handling complaints and taking appropriate corrective action.
An employee in this position ensures personnel compliance with OSHA safety requirements and is responsible for the plant safety program. This position provides on-the-job training to department personnel regarding safety equipment and procedures, proper Plant operations, and maintenance procedures and schedules maintenance of equipment.
Requires a High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) with five (5) years of progressively complex experience in the water treatment field; or equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience.
Possession of Maryland Class IV Water Treatment Certification in accordance with Environmental Article Title 12 and COMAR.26.06.01; Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class B CDL driver’s license with Tank and Air Brake endorsements within 6 months.
The salary for this full-time position is $67,560 – $80,000, depending on qualifications.
